Christmas Concert December 2010 Pokesdown Salvation Army Hall.

Despite the snow and freezing  conditions the band fielded a full compliment.  Unfortunately the the conditions kept away our usual crowd of supporters.  Apart from Carols and Christmas songs there was a duet from two members of the Training Band supported by the band. Well done Michael and Edward.  We were ably supported by the Avon Valley Chorus once again.  We can report happily that  Brian’s Bass solo did eventually end.

Concert 22nd May 2010 SA Pokesdown

The Band fielded a 20 strong band for this concert and were ably supported by the Avon Valley Chorus, (not the Stour Valey Singers!)  There were sterling performances from soloists Neil Eaton (cornet) playing ‘Share My Yolk’ and Stephen Whittingham (Euphonium) playing

‘I Walk With God’

Together for the first time a cornucopia of local musical talent of all ages. This event was organised to raise funds for the Mayor of Christchurch’s charities and there was impressive line-up. Playing together will be the drums and bugles from the young people of Christchurch District Scout Band and the ATC Band. Then be delighted by the Highcliffe Brass Band, The Band of the Royal British Legion and a group from the popular Taverners Big Band. Then hear award winning Highcliffe Junior Choir, enjoy the harmonies of the Le Nova Singers and the popular 40s style of Light and Shade. An evening to remember in aid of good causes. The Band played a selection of Welsh tunes (it was St. David’s Day) including Castille Coch, Crugybar, Walking the Wheat & Tom Jones.

Christmas Concert 5th December 2009

Christchurch and Highcliffe Band had their first ever Christmas Concert on Saturday 5th December at All Saints Church, Mudeford.

Members of the newly formed Training Band took part on their first ever engagement. Presidents Jilly and David Hills said, “This will be special night for both members of the Training Band and the Main Band and will be the first of many engagements they will perform together.”

Also joining the band were members from the Mudeford Junior School Choir under the baton of Mrs Desborough. Mr Brian Eastment, Chairman of the Band said

“We are thrilled to be accompanied by a local school choir, which will undoubtedly add to the festive feel of the evening”. Traditional carols and Christmas tunes  put every one in the mood for Christmas.

The band is also welcoming young children to join the Training Band and anyone over the age of 8 years is welcome to come along on Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm (Rainbow Pre-school premises, Lymington Road, Highcliffe.)
